Content Quality vs. Content Quantity for SEO

What is SEO?

Short for Search Engine Optimization, SEO refers to the process of enhancing your blog or website by increasing its visibility for related searches. The more visibility your website has when being searched for, the more likely you as a business are to gather interest and attract potential customers.
The debate raging forever “Is content quantity or content quality more important to improve visibility? ”

Is more content better?

If you are a publisher whose job is to write about the same content every year, is it better to create new articles or update existing ones? If the changes made on a yearly basis are not significant, it is better to just update your older articles. Updating older content is only worth your while if something substantial has changed. Why? Because if you keep publishing new content with the same data, Google’s algorithms may deem similar articles from the same publisher as duplicate data. Duplicate data makes you lose your uniqueness and advantage over other similar and boring data.

Also, remember not to produce content just for the sake of it. If you are part of an industry where new information is always coming out, then you can keep producing new data. If not, remember to stick to the basics and update and refine your existing data.

Will more pages lead to better SEO results?

Simply put, no.
As a thumb rule, Google does prefer websites with more content. However, while content is king, content alone in a large volume is not. If you have seen big sites attaining high rankings, it may be because they have numerous pages that are performing well, which makes it easy to distribute the SEO value across the domain. But Google does not do this solely based on the volume of pages. If websites are performing well and enhancing a user’s experience, Google trusts such pages and will more likely reward other pages from the same domain. A site that has multiple pages should exist only on the condition that it offers its audience a wide range of valuable information so as to attain higher rankings.

Content Quality is the Key

The most vital piece of advice given by Google developer Martin Splitt is to attempt high ranking through producing high-quality content rather than publishing a large amount of content periodically. Remember to focus on the mantra that quality is more valuable than quantity. There is no such thing as too much or too little content – what matters the most is the value of your content.
